A last is the form that the shoes are made on, and which hence decides the look and fit of the shoes. Most of our lasts are similar in fit, and most people have the same size in all our shoes, with a few exceptions. There's some variations in fit though, and of course variations in look, not least of the toe shape. In this guide we go through all lasts that we offer shoes on, to give you a good overview.

All Goodyear welted men's shoes that we sell are made in UK sizes, where the grading is for example 7, 7,5, 8 and so on, which corresponds to 41, 41,5, 42 EU sizes and so on. Since the grading isn't exact between the sizing systems, they aren't technically fully correct, but especially in the sizes in the middle the translation works well. For our Goodyear welted women's shoes, Yanko's Belgian loafers and our sneakers they are made in EU sizes, so there it's the other way around, so to speak, since we always state both the EU and UK sizes. Compared to US sizing, it's standard to go one full size down compared to the UK size in our shoes.
Width in our shoes are F as standard. Some lasts have G width, which is a bit wider. Note that since our shoes in general have good arch support and a bit narrower heels the wider lasts work well also for more narrow feet. In some cases you can, as Made to Order, order different widths, some TLB lasts are for example available in E, F, G and H. All info on this can be found under respective last below, where you also find links to all models that we offer on the specific lasts.

SKOLYX
Hector
Width: F (standard)
Info: Hector is the base last in our offer of Goodyear welted shoes under our own Skolyx brand. It's a timeless last with a classic round toe, with a medium high toe box. Suits excellent both for more dressy oxfords, but also semi formal models like double monk straps or quarter brogues in suede. A couple of years ago we did a smaller update of this lasts, so the shoes that nowadays are sold on Hector have a slightly less pointy toe than the first generation.
Size is considered "true to size" for welted footwear. They have a normal heel, a normal instep, normal to slightly roomy at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking).

Ben
Width: F (standard)
Info: Ben is a last with slightly rounder toe with a higher toe box than Hector, a last that is highly suitable for more casual shoes which gets the perfect balance with a storm welt. Available both for low shoes and boots, but mainly informal models in both cases.

Adam
Width: F (standard)
Info: Last with a soft square toe, with the classic Majorcan chiseling of the toe tip, where it has a shape reminiscent of an eagle beak seen in profile. A last that works excellent on elegant boots like chelseas.
Size is considered "true to size" for welted footwear. They have a slightly narrower heel, a normal instep, normal to slightly roomy at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking). Boots on Ben have a normal width of the shaft.

Jack
Width: F (standard)
Info: Jack is a last developed specifically for loafers, with a classic round toe with normal toe box height. Works just as well for a dressier black penny loafer as a casual comfy tassel loafer in light brown suede.
Jack is a bit roomy in size, it's common to go down half a size compared to our other welted shoes, or other "true to size" Goodyear welted laced shoes. A half size down it has a slightly tighter heel, a normal instep, normal to slightly roomy at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking), but then slightly shorter in length. Therefore some with longer, narrow feet may choose their regular size and use a tongue pad, perhaps also a thin insole.

Hector patent
Width: F (standard)
Info: A sibling to regular Hector (see above) which we use in our factory in Portugal who make the Blake stitched patent leather shoes we offer. Same timeless, classic round toe with a medium high toe box. Slightly higher toe spring (height of the toe tip over the ground) is the main difference, this since you want to minimise the creasing on the patent leather, for increased durability.

YANKO
915
Width: F (standard)
Info: 915 is the most classic Majorcan last ever made, it's the soft chiseled last that is the inspiration to all other soft chiseled lasts that comes from Mallorca, with the characteristic shape reminiscent of an eagle beak when seen in profile. Very versatile last, works on formal black oxfords to relatively casual derbys.
Size is considered "true to size" for welted footwear. They have a slightly narrow heel, a normal instep, normal to slightly roomy at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking).

Width: G (wide)
Info: A timeless last with a classic round toe, with a medium high toe box. Suits excellent both for more dressy oxfords, but also semi formal models. The most "British" of Yanko's lasts.
Size is considered "true to size" for welted footwear. They have a normal heel, a normal instep, slightly roomy at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking), is considered relatively narrow for a G width though.

Info: A soft chiseled last, with a more downward leaning toe than 915 and a bit smaller, more elongated toe tip. Quite sleek and elegant shape, works well for chelsea boots.
Size is considered relatively "true to size" for welted footwear, a few go down half a size since the instep is a bit higher and it's a bit elongated. They have a normal heel, a slightly higher instep, slightly roomy at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking).

Width: G (wide)
Info: A last made specifically for loafers, it has a classic round toe with a normal toe box height. Versatile loafers last that suits many types of loafers.
955 is considered "true to size" compared to other welted loafers, even if it's slightly roomier due to the G width.. They have a normal heel, a normal instep, slightly roomy at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking). Most wear the same size as in lace-ups, but some go down half a size since you don't have lacing to keep it in place, but here it can also work to use tongue pads.

Width: F (standard)
Info: A specific loafers last, which has a neat slightly almond shaped toe. Perfectly suitable with for example Belgian loafers or opera pumps, shoes that have a low-cut vamp.
Fit is the one that differs the most from our other shoes, since it's very small in size. Most go up one full size (so for example EU42 -> EU 43) compared to welted footwear that are "true to size". One full size up they have a slightly narrow heel, a normal instep, normal at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking). As often with loafers it can be useful with tongue pads to avoid heel slippage, extra good on this type of shoes with a low vamp.

TLB MALLORCA
Oliver
Width: F (standard), also available in E (narrow), G (wide), H (extra wide).
Info: Last with a round toe, a bit between a classic round and an almond shaped toe, medium height of the toe box. A versatile last, works as well on an adelaide oxford as a reverse stitch toe derby.
Size is considered "true to size" for welted footwear. They have a slightly narrow heel, a normal instep, normal to slightly roomy at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking).

Info: A very elegant last with a classic round toe, enhanced shapes and with the narrow waists of the Artista range which gives increased arch support. The toe has an even sloping shape which gives a streamlined appearance. Very versatile last, works well for the most dressy oxfords but also a reverse stitch toe derby or loafers.
Size is considered "true to size" for welted footwear. They have a slightly narrow heel, increased arch support, a normal instep, normal to slightly roomy at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking). For loafers on Goya most wear the same size as in laced shoes, so you don't go down half a size as otherwise is common for loafers. Boots on Goya have a normal width of the shaft.

Picasso
Width: F (standard), also available in E (narrow), G (wide).
Info: A soft chiseled very refined last with a soft square toe, enhanced marked shapes and with the narrow waists of the Artista range which gives increased arch support. The toe has an even sloping shape which gives a streamlined appearance. The fact that Picasso works superb as a wholecut says a lot about how gorgeous the shape is.
Size is considered "true to size" for welted footwear. They have a slightly narrow heel, increased arch support, a normal instep, normal to slightly roomy at the ball (the widest part of the foot where it's bent when walking). Boots on Picasso have a normal width of the shaft.

Velazquez
Width: F (standard), also available in E (narrow).
Info: A last with a soft square toe but without the chiseling that Picasso has, a last that is quite similar to for example Edward Green's 606 last. Very popular for reverse stitch toe derbys, where it really takes off.
