Here you'll find a large selection of products for leather care, protection and products to dye leather. Leather is a living material which needs to be cared for, then your leather products will last longer and look better. We have products for care and protection of allt types of leathers in furnitures, bags, belts, car interiors, clothing, gloves, leather jackets and so on. 

For example we have leather cleaning products of various strengths, from gentle products (Saphir Leather Cleanser, Saphir leather soap, Gall soap), more efficient cleaning (Saphir Renomat), to very strong products to "strip" leather before they are to be dyed till (Saphir Decapant), as well as cleaners for suede (Saphir Omninettoyant). You'll find many excellent products to care and nourish different types of skins, for regular smooth leather (Saphir Crème Renovateur, Saphir Leather Lotion, Saphir Dubbin Grease), for more delicate leathers (Saphir Crème Nappa), for waxed or oiled leathers (Saphir Cream for waxed leathers), and for suede and nubuck (Saphir Renovateur spray). How should I care for my leather products?

Leather is a living material that should definitely be cared for in order to last long and look good for a long time. We have a wide range of products for the care and protection of all types of leather in furniture, gloves, bags, belts, wallets, car interiors, leather jackets and more. The important thing is to keep the leather clean, as well as moisturised and protected. The same principles that apply to our own skin.

A product that works for most types of plain leather products is Saphir Medaille d'Or Leather Lotion. Brush or wipe off dirt from the leather, apply the leather lotion on a polishing cloth and work it into the leather, allow to dry for 5-10 minutes and then go over it with a brush. This will leave the leather moisturised and with a protective natural wax coating on it, without darkening or smudging. Several other leather care products can be found below.

How do I clean leather products?

We have three products that are the first choice depending on the type of leather and the degree of soiling involved. Firstly the Saphir Medaille d'Or Leather Cleanser which is for regular smooth or embossed leather, oiled/waxed leather or shell cordovan, it's a mild and gentle cleaner. A little more powerful and effective is Tarrago WASC! Sneakers super cleaner which of course also works for other types of products than sneakers, good both for smooth leather, suede, synthetic materials or textiles. Then we have Saphir Medaille d'Or Omninettoyant which is a cleaner specifically for suede and nubuck.

All these products are used in a similar way, you use a damp cloth or brush and work up a lather that dissolves the dirt, then wipe off with a damp cloth. Once the product has dried after a few hours, treat them with conditioner if it's ordinary leather, or the conditioning and protecting Saphir Medaille d'or renovateur spray in neutral colour if it's suede, nubuck or textile.

How do you paint or dye leather products?

The basic rule is that you should only dye lighter leather in a darker shade. Preparation is important, you should wash the leather completely clean with Saphir Decapant, so that the leather has no residue from dirt and other things.

Then you paint with a leather dye such as Saphir Teinture Francais, it's done with a brush or a sponge. Remember to use much less dye than you think. Gently apply the paint in even coats, and allow to dry before proceeding to see the result. When you are happy, reinforce the colour protection with Saphir Stop Colour, especially important on products that are directly against garments, such as belts or handbags. Finish by applying Saphir Medaille d'Or Leather Lotion to moisturise and protect.
