Clothing care
Storing and caring for your clothes properly will make them look better and last longer. We have exclusive hangers in untreated cedar wood that are moisture-absorbent and protect against pests, but also hangers in stylish high-gloss wood that look great in the wardrobe or for guests in the hallway. Also other clothing storage and care products, such as high quality clothes brushes from the British manufacturer Kent and all-natural scented sachets and other cedar products that attract moisture and keep pests at bay.
Since your garments spend most of their time on hangers or in drawers, it's important that they are stored properly. If you take care of your stuff, it will last longer and look better down the road.
Many of our hangers have a very affordable bulk discount for those looking to upgrade their wardrobe.
Why should clothes be on hangers?
The beauty of storing your clothes on hangers is that they take up little space, get to hang in a natural and airy way, and become free from creases and wrinkles - things that extend the life of your clothes. This is true whether you have a variety of shirt hangers, blouse hangers, trouser hangers and skirt hangers for your wardrobe, or sturdy coat hangers for the hat shelf where family and guests can hang their outerwear. We also have hangers for ties, scarves and belts.
How do I save my clothes and textiles from pests?
Pests like fur beetles and moths can cause really nasty holes and damage to your clothes and textiles. However, there is an easy way to combat this, with natural cedar products. This is because pests dislike the smell of cedar, and will stay away if you have cedar hangers or blocks, balls or bags of cedar shavings in your wardrobe or closet. The bags of cedar shavings also attract a lot of moisture, perfect for use in the linen closet in the summer house or similar.
How do I wash and keep my clothes clean in the best way?
To protect both garments and the environment, it's a good idea not to machine wash your clothes too often. Hang your clothes on a hanger and let them air outside, especially wool garments will be as good as new after a while in the fresh air. You can also brush away surface dirt with a good clothes brush, especially outerwear, wool garments and suits - clothes that might otherwise require dry cleaning, in which case brushing and airing is by far the gentlest on garments and the environment. When you do need to machine wash garments, do so at the lowest possible washing temperature, using no more detergent than you need. We recommend using the superb special detergents we have from the Swedish company Tangent GC.
How should I take care of my leather products?
Leather is a living material that needs care and attention, then your leather products will last longer and look better. At Skolyx you will find products for the care and protection of all types of leather in furniture, gloves, belts, bags, car interiors, leather jackets and more. The important thing is to keep the leather clean, moisturised and protected. A miracle product that works for most types of plain leather products is Saphir Medaille d'Or Leather Lotion. Brush or wipe off dirt from the leather, apply the leather lotion on a polishing cloth and work into the leather, allow to dry for 5-10 minutes and then brush up the surface with for example a shoe brush. The leather is now moisturised and has a protective natural wax coating on it, without darkening or smudging.

What is cedar good for, and where does it come from?
Red cedar has many great properties, such as absorbing moisture well, having deodorising and antiseptic properties, being pest resistant, durable and lightweight, and more. A big advantage of cedar is that it is a wood that is abundant in the world, and where the harvesting that is done is mainly of naturally grown forest, in our case all the wood comes from the USA. This makes red cedar good from an environmental point of view. In this guide you can read more about cedar.
