Leather bags and accessories

Here you'll find our beautifully crafted briefcases and leather accessories, made from Swedish leather. When we at Skolyx enter a new product segment, we do so because we feel we can create something that gives our customers real value for money. This is certainly true now that we are introducing our own bags for the first time.

We use high quality Swedish cowhides, vegetable tanned, which gives a leather that will age wonderfully and gain lots of character over the years. The briefcases are handcrafted in one of India's best bag factories, with many construction details and level of finish that is rare in this price range.

In addition to the briefcases, we also have a nice shoe care mat in the same leather that makes the shining sessions considerably more pleasant.

What is the best leather for briefcases?

A good briefcase is made from a thick, sturdy leather that will hold its shape and withstand years of wear and tear. High-quality full-grain leather, with the entire grain surface intact - the most durable part of the leather - is recommended. It can also be cared for and recover from scratches and other wear, and can last for many, many years.

Both chrome-tanned and vegetable-tanned full-grain leather make great bags. If you want a vibrant patina with shifts and life in the leather, it usually shows up faster and more with vegetable tanned.

How do you clean and care for leather bags and accessories?

To clean leather bags and accessories, use a mild leather cleaner, such as Saphir Medaille d'Or Leather Cleanser or Tarrago WASC Super Cleanser. Apply the product to a cotton cloth and rub the surface clean. Allow to air dry.

Everything made of leather needs regular care, about twice a year is usually sufficient. Here we recommend Saphir Medaille d'Or Leather lotion, which is deeply nourishing and provides some protection, and which penetrates well into the leather and does not smudge or darken it. 

How do I make sure my leather bag doesn't crack?

As mentioned above, all leather needs to be nourished to last long and feel good. All our leather products and shoes are made from full grain leather, which is not covered with, for example, a plastic film or similar, which absorbs conditioning oils and waxes well. This prevents cracking. If marks and scratches appear, use some coloured shoe cream on this, but don't use this all over the bag as it may rub off on your clothes. Use an uncoloured leather conditioner, such as Saphir Medaille d'Or Leather lotion, for regular care.
